STUCK IN TASSIE
ASH CLOUD TO BLAME !!

After our most momentous win the night before, we were excited to get ourselves back home to celebrate with family and friends, and fly back to Sydney on Sunday morning, when the unfortunate has happened… ALL FLIGHTS OUT OF TASMANIA HAVE BEEN CANCELLED !!!

Due to unforseen circumstances, Some of the SWSR girls were seen stuck at the airport on TV being interviewed by ABC News, some of the girls were also interviewed by WIN TV # 9 News, along with also being heard on SBS Radio !

Due to extended stay we have decided to make the most of our trip and what Tassie has to offer, and turn what should have been a great weekend, into an even better week… we will share some of the trips highlights with you when we get back home and in an upcoming blog you can read all about our extended stay ;)

B..B…B...BOUT NIGHT !!

THAT’S RIGHT ITS BOUT NIGHT and SWSR have some exciting news for all our family, friends and Fans…..

SWSR HAVE ENDED OUR FIRST EVER BOUT VICTORIOUS !!

What a remarkable way to end an exciting, fast paced, bout with a group of amazing skaters from South Island Sirens, who kept us on our toes for both halves, creating walls of steel, it was one close game, such an exciting bout to be a part of, and SWSR can not thank the ladies of South Island Sirens for putting on such an awesome event for us to skate in.

The pre bout between the wonderful ladies of Van Diemen Rollers also proved to be a great fast game, with the Van Diemen Rollers; team ‘Jam Tarts’ taking on “Infectious” it was the Jam Tarts who ended the night with an amazing win – the first ever against team Infectious…Congratulations ladies <3

Bout Highlights of the night:

It was a very close game against The All Scars and The South Island Sirens, with the first half proving to be more difficult than the second.

With temperatures not quite what we were used to in NSW, some of the South West Sydney Rockets were finding it difficult to even feel there toes !!

The Stadium did let us down on the cold front, with no heaters in sight, we were pleased to have decided to wear our long tights on the night…

Jamming for SWSR’s “All Scars”Team Tassie were Ann O’War, Kimakaze, Metho Betho & Lil’ Tamtrum. All Jammers did an amazing job, breaking through the ever present walls of the South Island sirens.

There were many Jammer highlights, but the most memorable was with Ann O’War amassing a number of points with a 2 minute PowerJam.

In the first half the South Island Sirens Jammer was the first Jammer to be sent to the bin allowing us to obtain a power jam, and South West Sydney Rockets were finally sent into the lead which is where we fought to stay all night, taking some big hits from the blockers of SIS.

As our motto states “Blood, Sweat & Bruises” the girls of both SWSR and SIS left the stadium that night with a bit of all three… the night of a fast and ferocious game, with SWS remaining on top and to take home victory !.

Final Score – SIS 123 With SWSR 138 - taking home the win !!

There were a lot of thrills and spills and tumbles throughout the bout, with some great photos being taken of the night. Some Tasmanian Photographers have taken an array of images capturing the excitement of the night !

the following blog will have links to all the amazing Tasmania photographers who took some incredible images of the night...

SWSR will be uploading our own bout photos to our flickr page soon, be sure to check back for link s <3

OFF WITH HER HEAD !!!

SWSR have landed !!

SWSR have arrived safely in the land across the Tasman, it is a little chilly, and the frost is setting in, but we are finally safe and warm in our own little piece of Tasmania for the long weekend….

After hiring a bus SWSR’s Team Tassie drove to our Mansion overlooking the river, and have begun warming the house with all three open fire place’s blazing and are all sitting snug and cosy in our onesies at the mansion….

Our support crew have settled in to the coach house, a cute little pad located behind the Mansion, and we will be travelling down the road to the local pub for some hearty dinner before dropping off to sweet sleep.. Heaters on – Yes – electric Blanket set – Absolutely ! SWSR are definitely not used to these sub zero temperatures… we are starting to get worried not being able to feel our fingers and toes.. this could be a definite advantage SIS have over us tomorrow night… we havnt climatised to this freezing weather yet !!

The accommodation is awesome, and as a bunch of girls travelling together the abundance of mirrors located all over this early 1900’s house is great… there will be no fighting in the morning for mirror space that’s for sure….

While we stay warm and cosy in our House after dinner, we will be sleeping and dreaming of all things derby in preparation for the big day ahead of us tomorrow

LET SWSR’S BOUTING HISTORY BEGIN !!

Wish us the best of luck and we hope we make NSW proud <3

Ladies of the SOUTH ISLAND SIRENS !!

This much anticipated bout will be the first ever public bout for both teams !

With the South Island Sirens meeting up with South West Sydney Rockets last year at the Red Bull Roller Ragers Derby Games, we liked each other so much that we decided we wanted to bout each other, in an amazing explosive hard hitting roller derby bout neither league would forget….6 months later, the time has finally arrived !! and South West Sydney Rockets are getting prepared to take the short trip across the Tasman and skates our butts off (not just to keep warm) but to hopefully come home with a win <3
