Rolling into the Fishers Ghost Parade

SWSR had a great time last weekend at the Annual Fishers Ghost Street Parade for 2012

For those of you who don’t know, Campbelltown has been celebration the Ghost of Fred Fisher in there Annual Festival for more than 50 years.

Almost four months after the mysterious disappearance of local farmer, Fred Fisher, in 1826 a strange occurrence took place in a local hotel. On that memorable night, a wealthy and respectable farmer, John Farley, stumbled into a local hotel in a state of shock claiming he had seen the ghost of Fred Fisher sitting on the rail of a bridge over a creek.

The ghost pointed to a paddock down the creek then faded away.
The body of Fred Fisher was later discovered in the paddock where the ghost had pointed and more than 100 years on Campbelltown still celebrates this tragic murder, neighbour George Worrall confessed to the murder during trial, and some say the ghost of Fred can still be seen sometimes sitting on the rail of the bridge overlooking the creek.

With this years theme emphasizing on Literacy, the Legend of Fishers Ghost and colour Orange we sure looked the part in our parade outfits made of recycled newspaper, reading glasses, our banners showing the emphasis and importance of reading and literacy made the day a wonderful event !!

With a few rain drops along the way, the parade was in no way washed out with huge crowds and onlookings cheering on all the entrants and the girls and guys from SWSR !!

We cant wait to see the highlights and have our fingers crossed on another win this year !!

Below are some pictures of SWSR enjoying the parade !!

Cant wait to see you all back again next year
with a whole new theme !!
